    {JungleAnimalsBorder.jpg}
    On the first day of activities I will start out by asking the students what their favorite animals are. This will lead into a discussion about how many different kinds of animals there are. I will then go on about the 5 different senses. I will then ask the students to explain what they know about their favorite animals, Examples will include; if they have fur, beaks, how many legs they may have, if they have paws etc.. After doing this we will read 2 books. This should take about 10 minutes.The first book will be a book online that has sounds. This book will have the students listen to the sounds that different animals make and then have them act them out. The link is below. Then I will read them a book called "Snouts and Sniffers" by Stan Tekiela. This book is about how different animals have different noses and how they use them. Reading these books should take about 10 minutes total. After this I will assign a different animal to every student. The students will then cut out of construction paper, draw, or paint a picture of their animal. After this is done the students will get into groups based on the similarities they drew on their animals. They will talk about in groups how their animals are similar. This should take about 25 minutes. After this is done the students will watch a short video about animals. This video will be played through a computer onto a projector. This should take no longer than 5 minutes.
    If there is extra time, an online game will be posted for the children to play!

    On the second day, the students will go on a field trip to a petting zoo. Before we go I will show them a worksheet that talks about observing using the 5 senses. I will remind the students to keep this in mind while on the field trip. When we are at the petting zoo I will bring my iPad to record observations the students find to be important. I will then show them these observations when we get back to the classroom later that day. Although this will take more than 50 minutes I find it to be important.
